TIMELINE FACT CHECKING

We want to draw attention to the "Timeline" section of the Ohio State University's website. The timeline claims to show "key dates in OSU's efforts to investigate the abuse perpetrated by Richard Strauss and the university's failure to prevent it". However, we believe that important details have been omitted from this timeline.

One significant omission is the complete lack of any mention of the university's failure to protect students at the time. It is astonishing that a timeline about the assault of hundreds of students over a 20-year period and the subsequent cover-up by the university fails to acknowledge this crucial information.

• 1994: Strauss removed from or leaves fencing team because of complaints
• 1995: Student A makes a complaint on Dr. Richard Strauss 
• 1995: Student B makes a complaint on Dr. Richard Strauss 
• 1995: Director of student health holds a "Mediation" between Survivor (Student B) and Dr. Strauss allowing Strauss to yell at Student B Meeting closes with a campus phycologist information Student B "they are confused and mistaken" 
• 1995: Director of Student health lies to Student B on OSU letter head stating no complaints had ever been filed on Dr. Richard Strauss "in fact only compliments". Commits to letting Student B know if any complaints happen in the future. 
• 1995: Director of Student health gives Dr. Richard Strauss an "Excellent" rating on his review
• 1996: Student C makes a complaint on Dr. Richard Strauss 
• 1996: Student B NOT contacted as promised by Director of Student health 
• 1996:  OSU tells Ohio Medical Board to "keep the Strauss matter confidential".  When the medical board asked if "OSU would be filing a complaint against Dr. Strauss?"  The University never did, even after being prompted.
